Privacy Policy
DatedProof (datedproof.com) is a set of free photo tools and guides. Short version: your photos stay on your device, we collect almost nothing, and we use no cookies.
Your photos
The photo date checker and the date stamp tool process photos inside your browser. The files are read by JavaScript on your device. They are not uploaded, not sent to us or to any other server, and not stored. When you close or reload the page, they are gone from the page. You can confirm this by loading a tool and then switching your device to airplane mode: it keeps working.
The libraries that read and write photo metadata (exifr, piexifjs, fflate) are served from our own site, not from a third-party network.
What we collect
- Waitlist emails. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the page you were on when you joined (for example /guides/rental-car-damage-dispute/), and the date and time. We use it only to email you once when the app launches, and to count which pages bring interest. We do not sell or share it. The list is kept in a database at Cloudflare.
- Anonymous usage counts. When a tool is used (a photo was checked, a location was removed, photos were stamped, the waitlist form was submitted), our server adds 1 to a daily counter with the action name and the page path. These counts contain no IP address, no user ID, no cookie and nothing about your photos.
- Visit statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, referring sites and countries. It does not use cookies or follow you across sites.
- Server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page, as every website host does, and handles them under its own privacy policy. We do not keep or look at IP addresses ourselves.
What we do not do
No advertising, no third-party trackers, no tracking cookies, no fingerprinting, no social-media buttons, no external fonts. We do not set any cookies and do not use your browser's storage.
Links to maps
When a photo has a GPS location, the date checker shows links to OpenStreetMap and Google Maps. Nothing is sent to those sites unless you click a link; if you do, the coordinates are part of the address you open, and that site's own privacy policy applies.
Deleting your data
To be removed from the waitlist, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with (or tell us the address) and we will delete it. We keep waitlist emails until the app launches, or until we decide not to build it, whichever is first, and then delete them. Usage counts cannot be traced to you, so there is nothing to delete.
Children
DatedProof is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will change the date at the top. If we ever start collecting something new, we will say so here before we do.
